- 2.85 V typical forward voltage (2.75 to 3.25 V). Continuous drive runs from 100 mA up to 1000 mA, with a 2000 mA surge allowance. RthJS reads 2.6 K/W electrically at ηe = 68 %.
- Full production, ordering code Q65113A1191. The part carries corrosion robustness class 3B and an 8 kV ESD rating, ships MSL 2 dry-pack, and is supplied 600 pieces to a 180 mm reel.
Description
Product Introduction
Deep blue at 455 nm is what GD CS8PM1.14-VJVK-W4-1-350 delivers: a 3.0 × 3.0 mm ceramic emitter whose moulded silicone lens holds an 80° cone, under ordering code Q65113A1191. Its dominant wavelength spans 439 to 457 nm with a 451 nm peak, and bin pair VJ…VK gives 710 to 825 mW of radiant flux at the 350 mA test point.
Radiant efficiency sets this part apart inside the family. The datasheet quotes 72 % typical against 20 % to 30 % for the white versions, and that changes how the thermal data reads: the published 2.6 K/W is an electrical value taken at ηe = 68 %, so the real junction-to-solder-point path is nearer 8.1 K/W. Neither is wrong; they answer different questions.
The datasheet also lists the part under Horticulture Lighting and gives photosynthetic photon flux directly - 2.74 µmol/s typical, 2.60 to 2.99 µmol/J by bin - so a grow-light spec needs no conversion from watts. Both ordering codes carry full production status, and the datasheet has been stable since 2021.
Key Product Features
1. Radiant Efficiency of 72 %, the Family's Highest:The white versions of this package publish 20 % to 30 %. That gap is why a 2.6 K/W figure appears here and 3.7 K/W on the white parts: at high efficiency, less of the input becomes heat, and the electrical thermal resistance falls with it. The physical path has not improved - the basis has changed.
2. Photosynthetic Photon Flux Stated on the Datasheet:PPF is given as typ. 2.74 µmol/s, with a µmol/J figure per brightness bin. Most colour emitters leave a grow-light designer to convert from radiant watts. Here the plant metric is a published specification, which makes a horticulture claim auditable rather than estimated.
3. Corrosion Robustness Class 3B, Actually Published:The datasheet names the class and the test behind it: 40 °C at 90 % RH with 15 ppm H2S for 14 days, a harsher schedule than IEC 60068-2-43. Several white parts in this family publish no corrosion class at all, so this is a genuine specification advantage for damp or industrial housings.
4. A Three-Field Group Code on the Reel Label:The label carries brightness, wavelength, and forward voltage - for example UO-2-3. The wavelength field means the colour bin can be checked at goods-in rather than inferred, which matters when a build is specified to a narrow 450 nm window.
5. A Stable Part in a Family Full of End-of-Life Codes:Both ordering codes are in full production and the datasheet has held at version 1.6 since August 2021, the last change touching brightness groups only. ams OSRAM states that change management for this component follows the lighting market. It is a very different supply position from the EOL codes elsewhere in OSLON SSL 80.

Application Fields
A deep blue primary does two quite separate jobs: it is a colour, and at 451 nm it is a wavelength plants absorb. That is why the datasheet places it under architecture and horticulture lighting at the same time. Typical specifications include:
- Horticulture and grow-light fixtures – the blue channel in a full-spectrum grow lamp.
- Vertical farming and propagation racks – blue-weighted vegetative stages and seedling shelves.
- Architectural and facade lighting – deep blue accent, wash, and feature illumination.
- Entertainment and stage effects – a colour-mixing primary in wash and beam fixtures.
- Aquarium and decorative displays – deep blue for marine tanks and display cases.
- Outdoor and industrial accent lighting – marker and feature lighting where class 3B corrosion resistance is useful.
- Colour-mixing modules – the blue channel in a tunable or RGB assembly.
- Retrofit colour engines – replacement blue emitters for existing OSLON SSL 80 boards.
- Signage and channel letters – blue accent illumination behind translucent faces.
- Custom OEM colour assemblies – private-label heads built on the standard 3.0 × 3.0 mm footprint.
Why Choose Gainer LED?
- Both radiant-flux bins under one quotation:We hold the 660 to 765 mW code and the 710 to 825 mW code, so we price the bin your drawing already approves instead of steering you to whichever is on the shelf.
- The ordering code travels with the price:Every quotation names Q65113A1191 and the bin it covers, so your buyer can check it against the approved list without sending a second email.
- The wavelength field is confirmed before dispatch""We read the group code off the reel label and send it back to you. On a colour-critical order that removes the guesswork from goods-in.
- Full reels or broken quantities:The standard unit is 600 pieces on a 180 mm reel. We will break a reel for a validation build rather than insist on a production quantity.
- Mixed colour orders shipped together:If one fixture needs this blue alongside the family's white or red emitters, we consolidate them into a single consignment and a single set of documents.
- Export paperwork prepared with the goods:Commercial invoice, packing list, and the ams OSRAM documentation set are issued with the shipment, so customs clearance is not waiting on us.
FAQ
Q: Our customer's specification is written in lumens, but this datasheet is in milliwatts. How do we compare it with a white LED?
A: You cannot, directly, and that is the point. This is a colour emitter: it produces roughly 23 lm but 710 to 825 mW of radiant power, because the eye is barely sensitive at 455 nm. Quote it in radiant flux or micromoles per joule, and compare it only against other blue emitters specified the same way.
Q: We need a tight 450 nm window for a colour-critical build. Can we order a specific wavelength group?
A: Yes. The datasheet bins dominant wavelength into four groups: W at 439 to 444 nm, 2 at 444 to 449 nm, 3 at 449 to 453 nm, and 4 at 453 to 457 nm. Name the group on the order and it appears on the reel label. Allow for the ±0.5 nm measurement tolerance when you set the incoming limit.
Q: We are designing this into a product with a long service life. How stable is this part?
A: Stable. Both ordering codes carry full production status, and the datasheet has held at version 1.6 since August 2021, with the last change affecting brightness groups only. ams OSRAM states that change management for the component is aligned with the lighting market. That is a different position from several other OSLON SSL 80 codes, which are end-of-life.
Q: Both ordering codes are in full production. How do we choose between the two radiant-flux bins?
A: By the output your design was validated at. The UO…VJ code spans 660 to 765 mW and the VJ…VK code 710 to 825 mW, so the brighter bin overlaps the dimmer one at the bottom. If your fixture already meets its rating on the lower bin, the higher one only adds cost; if you need the margin, the step is about 8 %.
Q: Can we build a colour-mixing module using this blue alongside the family's white or red parts?
A: Yes. Every OSLON SSL 80 part shares the 3.0 × 3.0 mm ceramic pad and the 80° silicone lens, so footprint and optic are common. The drive budget is not: this blue runs 2.75 to 3.25 V at 350 mA against 2.70 to 3.20 V for the white versions, so each channel needs its own current setting.
