Inventronics LED Power Supply Application Case Study
Leave a message
Typhoons are an annual trial by wind and rain for southern Zhejiang. Between July and August of this year, Typhoons Bavi and Dolphin made landfall in Wenzhou one after the other, bringing winds reaching Force 13 and sweeping across various parts of Zhejiang with high pressure and heavy moisture. Beneath the looming storm clouds, thousands of bright streetlights shone as usual, signaling to the city that life went on-the pulse of the city remained unbroken.
The steady illumination of these streetlights is made possible by the reliability of the Inventronics EUM-DG series LED drivers. In addition to boasting an IP67 protection rating and authoritative quality certifications from multiple countries, the EUM-DG series is built to withstand extreme weather conditions, including typhoons, thunderstorms, and temperature fluctuations.
In the first half of 2026, Inventronics partnered with CECEP Jinghe to complete the upgrade of approximately 70,000 streetlights across Cangnan (Wenzhou) and Pujiang (Jinhua). The scale and effectiveness of this project make it a benchmark for the "EMC 2.0" renovation wave in China's county-level public lighting sector.
Robust protection was merely the baseline requirement for this streetlight renewal project. Leveraging core strengths such as intelligent control, high energy efficiency, and comprehensive solution capabilities, the Inventronics EUM-DG series drivers delivered an all-encompassing lighting upgrade for the streets of both cities.
1. Upgrading: Going Beyond Protection
This streetlight renovation project was not merely a simple equipment swap; it represented a comprehensive transformation of county-level road lighting-shifting from basic illumination to smart, responsive systems.
Previously, the streetlight infrastructure in Cangnan and Pujiang consisted of a chaotic mix of batches and types. The coexistence of old and new equipment led to incompatible communication protocols and data interfaces, making unified, intelligent management across the entire area impossible. Furthermore, the aging lighting equipment offered limited functionality, failing to adapt to the dynamic operational needs of the city and resulting in significant energy waste. Driven by the "Dual Carbon" strategic goals, the EMC 2.0 model has ushered in a new paradigm for roadway lighting, setting higher standards for energy efficiency and smart operation and maintenance capabilities. Guo Yao, Assistant General Manager of CECEP Jinghe, noted that product precision and superior luminous efficacy were among the core competitive advantages in the streetlamp retrofit projects across these two cities in Zhejiang.
This advantage is fully demonstrated by Inventronics' EUM-DG series LED drivers. With a peak conversion efficiency of up to 94%, these drivers deliver high-quality lighting while consuming less energy. They feature remote switching capabilities, enabling on-demand activation and dynamic dimming. Additionally, multiple protection mechanisms-including safeguards against over-temperature, over-voltage, and short circuits-comprehensively extend the lifespan of the LED light sources, balancing safety, energy conservation, and high efficiency.
Unlike the "one-size-fits-all" approach of traditional lighting, smart streetlamps align lighting services more closely with urban activity patterns. Late at night, when traffic and pedestrian activity are minimal, the lamps automatically dim and operate at lower power. In the early morning-prior to sanitation operations and the start of the daily commute-the lights brighten to ensure visibility for workers. During overcast or rainy days, integrated light sensors trigger a signal; the EUM-DG driver responds instantly to activate the lights, providing necessary supplemental illumination for pedestrians and vehicles.

2. Lighting Up: A Shared Glow Across 52,000 Units
Despite sharing the same objectives, the projects in the two cities faced distinct challenges during implementation.
The Cangnan project was essentially a contest between human ingenuity and the natural environment. With 18 towns and townships under its jurisdiction, Cangnan County required the retrofitting of 52,000 streetlamps across a landscape characterized by an intricate mix of mountains, rivers, and plains. The sheer scale of the equipment, the complex terrain, and the volatile coastal climate made centralized control and unified scheduling of the streetlamps a significant challenge. To address the pain points of county-level lighting operations and maintenance, Inventronics' EUM-DG series employs a precise "one-driver-per-lamp" deployment strategy. This establishes a seamless execution link between the CECEP Jinghe smart lighting management platform and every individual streetlamp. From system-wide scheduling to the precise control of single lamps, the platform's commands enable highly refined operational execution.

Inventronics products continue to operate reliably even in challenging natural environments. On winding mountain roads with weak signals, the EUM-DG driver ensures the accurate execution of commands; in highly corrosive coastal environments exposed to salt spray, the EUM-DG confidently withstands long-term use, backed by a ten-year warranty.
Estimates indicate that following the implementation of the Cangnan project, annual electricity savings exceed 35%, with cost reductions surpassing 9 million RMB per year*-averaging nearly 25,000 RMB in daily savings. The project has truly achieved energy conservation and consumption reduction while simultaneously improving street lighting quality.
3. Time constraints: No barrier to success
While the Cangnan project's difficulty lay in the natural environment, the challenge for the Pujiang project was an extremely compressed construction schedule.
The Pujiang streetlamp retrofit project ran from December 2025 to April 2026. A four-month timeline was already pushing the limits for a project of this nature, and the schedule coincided with the Spring Festival-a peak period for residents returning home. To ensure residents did not have to return home in the dark, the actual window available for construction and retrofitting was a mere two months.
This tight schedule demanded exceptional supply chain capabilities. As a system solutions provider, Inventronics delivered more than just individual products; it provided a comprehensive road lighting solution integrating LED drivers, modules, sensors, and smart control devices. During the design phase, every piece of equipment underwent rigorous interoperability testing to ensure efficient coordination before entering mass production. Upon receiving the client's requirements, Inventronics immediately coordinated with its production and warehousing teams to devise a comprehensive solution-optimizing delivery timelines and ensuring ease of on-site installation. This approach guaranteed supply efficiency, preventing any delivery delays from hindering the project's overall schedule.

Leveraging efficient, collaborative, and one-stop service, the project team successfully completed the renewal of over 17,000 streetlights in Pujiang on schedule. Post-renovation, the average illuminance on county roads increased by more than 30%, effectively resolving issues such as flickering and uneven lighting associated with the old fixtures, thereby significantly enhancing safety and comfort for nighttime travel. Furthermore, the project achieved an annual electricity saving rate exceeding 40% and cut annual electricity and maintenance costs by over 10 million RMB*, creating a win-win outcome that benefits both public well-being and the environment.
4. Lighting: Powering a City's Upward Progress
Wherever the light reaches, it marks both an act of urban governance and a fulfillment of social responsibility. From precision-driven smart energy efficiency to robust protection during extreme weather and the successful tackling of tight project deadlines, this county-wide streetlight overhaul has transformed the concept of "technology-empowered urban governance" into a tangible, real-world upgrade.
The upgrade of tens of thousands of streetlights illuminates more than just the night sky; it lights the way for a new path of green, low-carbon development and a new vision for smart city construction. Moving forward, Inventronics will continue to leverage its lighting system solutions to drive improvements in public well-being and urban advancement.
