ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS), a global leader in lighting and sensing innovation, has announced the launch of the SMARTLED™ Pure 0201, a new generation of ultra-compact LEDs designed to provide uniform, elegant optical solutions for ultra-slim device designs.

The SMARTLED™ Pure 0201 features a batwing radiation pattern combined with an ultra-wide 165° viewing angle, enabling highly uniform light distribution. This allows product engineers the freedom to create continuous, crisp indicator markings and shapes within miniature spaces.

As device profiles become increasingly slim and available optical space shrinks, indicator LEDs must deliver clear, uniform illumination without optical distortion. In smart devices, for instance, miniature status icons can display perfectly uniform light-free from hotspots or edge halos-even when viewed from shallow angles.

02 A New Chapter in Compact, Uniform Indicator Lighting

As part of ams OSRAM's new product line, the SMARTLED Pure 0201 model is designed for high-density integration; its miniature 0.6mm x 0.3mm footprint enables streamlined designs across a wide range of industries. The core technical feature of this Osram LED is its "batwing" radiation pattern. This optical design allows engineers to mount a diffuser directly against the LED without creating hotspots, enabling slimmer device profiles and greater flexibility in mechanical layout.

Customers can arrange multiple units in an array to achieve visual effects similar to mini-LEDs, meeting both standard and advanced visual communication requirements.

The Osram LED is available in a full range of monochromatic versions-including white, true green, red, and blue-each optimized for balanced output and a wide viewing angle of up to 165°, ensuring excellent visibility even from shallow angles.
