Important Interpretation Of Bridgelux's Full-spectrum White Light LED Technology And Patents

To date, the main reason why LED white light deviates from the solar spectrum is that the half-width of the blue light used is narrow and discontinuous, while continuous wide blue light is an indispensable condition for achieving a near-solar spectrum. Toshiba's full-spectrum technology uses purple light to excite wide-peak blue phosphors. Bridgelux and Intemax began to develop wide blue light chip technology in 2017, and through this technology combined with short-wave green phosphors to achieve full color temperature (2700K-6500K) white light LEDs, which are close to the solar spectrum in the visible light range. In 2019, Intemax obtained its first US patent (US10371325), the main feature of which is: a full-spectrum white light LED contains a blue light excitation source with a half-width greater than 30nm. So far, Puri and Intemet have obtained the following 10 US patents: 10371325, 10685941, 11127721, 11480308, 11953195, 11574896, 11668451, 11887973, 11933461, 10837608. These patents have been filed in Europe, China, Japan and other places, and have been successively granted patent rights.

These patents mainly protect the following four aspects:

* The wide blue light source includes multiple blue light LEDs with different wavelengths or a single LED emitting multi-wavelength blue light.

* The percentage of blue light intensity deviating from the solar spectrum or blackbody radiation spectrum.

* The percentage of circadian rhythm action factor (CAF) of blue light intensity deviating from the solar spectrum or blackbody radiation spectrum.

* Using KSF's high-efficiency full-spectrum white light LED.

The following are the main features selected from these 10 patents:

* The wide blue wavelength has a half-maximum width (FWHM) ≥ 30nm in the range of 420-480nm.

* The wide blue LED light source contains at least two blue LEDs with different wavelengths.

* An LED chip has multiple quantum wells emitting different blue wavelengths in the range of 420nm to 480nm.

* A flip chip has multiple quantum wells emitting different blue wavelengths, characterized by a half-maximum width FWHM of 25nm to 50nm in the range of 420nm to 480nm.

* The maximum light intensity deviation of the full-spectrum white LED in the wavelength range of 430nm to 520nm compared with the solar spectrum or blackbody radiation spectrum is <60%.
* The circadian action factor (CAF) of full-spectrum white light LEDs is within 5% of the solar spectrum or black-body radiation spectrum.
* Full-spectrum white light LEDs contain a broad blue light excitation source and contain a narrow band red phosphor KSF, and the blue light emission intensity of the full-spectrum white light LEDs in the range of 430nm to 520nm deviates from the solar spectrum or black-body radiation spectrum by <50%.
* The circadian action factor (CAF) of full-spectrum white light LEDs containing a broad blue light excitation source and a narrow band red phosphor KSF deviates from the solar spectrum or black-body radiation spectrum by less than 5%.
